Genealogy
Our library offers genealogy services for all of Carbon County. We have a microfilm index covering local newspapers beginning in 1829 to the present, as well as select burial and mercantile records. For a full list of newspapers we have, scroll down. Patrons can come in and do the research themselves or request remote research.
How to Request Remote Genealogy
Would you like one of our librarians to do genealogy research for you? Fill out this form or Email inquiries at GenealogyDimmick@gmail.com
What to include in the email:
1. Name of the person you are researching
2. What you are looking for:
- Obituary
- Birth announcement
- Marriage announcement
- Accident
3. Any other names that may have been used (for example: Abbot or Abott)
4. Any dates or a date range
5. Your contact information
- Name
- Address
- Phone number
6. Provide as much detail as possible
Cost for library staff to search on your behalf
The library charges a fee to do the research for you. There is a minimum flat fee of $15.00 for up to one hour of research and a charge of $15.00 for each additional hour. Printed copies of any information found are $0.25 per page. Our genealogy librarian will let you know the total at the completion of the research request.
